When Clouds & Storms are enabled on my Radion light, how frequently will these events occur?
-
Clouds and Thunderstorms are random, and their probabilities of occurrence are based on the amount of time between data points in the artificial mode graph. i.e. there is a much lower chance of either of these occurring when there is only 30 min between data points than if there is 3 hours between data points. This is because if you had a 50% chance of a storm occurring during any length of time between data points, and then you had 24 different half hour segments throughout your day profile, you would end up seeing 12 thunderstorms per day every day which is not a very natural occurrence. Therefore during smaller time lengths where clouds or thunderstorms are enabled, you have a lower chance of actually seeing the storm or cloud occur. You can always force a thunderstorm to occur at any time by using the buttons on the top of the Radion.

I'm looking at this unit and would like to know to what benefit does the storm setting add to the tank and its inhabitants?

Jon, Storms and clouds are designed for aesthetic and entertainment value.

Cloud cover and thunderstorms do not work in Natural Mode. I have had my six radions over my 300 gallon reef at 100% probability for cloud cover and thunderstorm for over a month now, and have not seen a single thunderstorm or cloud cover simulation.
When are you guys going to come out with a fix for this?-
David,
Thanks for your update, we are looking into this as we speak. -

Thanks Jonathan. Not trying to be a complainer, just want to see a T'storm sometime over my reef! Thanks.

I also have posted that i have not seen clouds or thunderstorms in natural mode. There were a couple of other people in RC that have similar issues.

I have had 2 storms in natural mode since updating to the latest release. I think it may be difficult to determine cloud cover. I had my unit for 100 % storms and have since move it to 45%. Still at 100 % cloud cover.
